Today’s Prince reports that male students are more likely to masturbate (and do it more frequently) than females. Which isn’t that surprising. What’s interesting is the reasoning—provided mostly by Paul Abramson, a UCLA professor—they provided:
Anatomy may also play a role in the discrepancies, Abramson noted. “It’s a lot more easy to find male genitals than female genitals,” he said, noting that from an evolutionary standpoint, “it’s a lot more easy to coordinate masturbation with an external male penis than with … internal organs.”
If he thinks that most women masturbate via “internal organs,” I must seriously call into question his status as “an expert on human sexuality.” (Also, as one commenter wrote, “Please. You live with your own genitals for 18 years, you’re gonna find them.”) It’s more likely that women masturbate less frequently and, perhaps, are more ashamed of accurately reporting their masturbation habits because of the culture of shame surrounding female sexuality. As EW editor Amelia said (in the article) on sex education literature for children,
“For girls, there’s always this caveat of ‘Masturbation is great … but some people don’t want to do it,’ ” she added. “I think it’s absolutely true that women are taught to be less comfortable with their sexuality.

Haha that part about not being able to find one’s genitals cracked me up. Some “expert.”
So, he basically just admitted that he couldn’t find a clitoris with two hands and a road map? And if he can’t do it, then women obviously can’t.
I’m thinking that maybe he should cede the floor to someone with an actual working knowledge of human sexuality.
I’ve just written a post about masturbation in mygfsez.com.
I’d be grateful for comments, kind or otherwise.

This article begets a follow-up feature examining the culture of shame that surrounds female sexuality and discourages female masturbation. Do some anonymous reporting, Prince!
One other quick thing: “He [Abramson] also explained that women tend to be less “visually oriented” than men, a factor in the failure of recent attempts at female-geared pornography.” Is this true? Why do I read it all the time?
Prince would be better off doing research on how to stop masturbation; who is doing it more is no suprise to anyone for ages already
