New York:

  • The National Council for Research on Women – A network of 110 member research and policy centers and more than 2,000 top-level researchers, providing the information and research needed to foster more equitable futures for women and girls.  Offer internships in New York throughout the year.
  • Double X – Slate’s blog for women offers summer internships, but sporadically, so watch their website for intern calls.
  • Catalyst, Inc. – Offers internships in their New York office, working to expand opportunities for women in business and the workplace.
  • Bust Magazine – The magazine for women with “something to get off their chests.”  Offers internships in their New York office.
  • Center for Reproductive Rights – Offers occasional internships in their New York and DC offices, working to make reproductive freedom a universal human right.
  • Equality Now – Global feminist organization offers internships in New York (and sometimes London and Nairobi) dealing with women and human rights worldwide.
  • Sexuality Information Council of the United StatesOffers internships in their New York and Washington, DC offices, working on public policy issues related to sexual health and rights.

Washington, DC:

  • The National Organization for Women – NOW is the largest feminist organization in the United States.  They offervolunteer, unpaid internships throughout the summer and academic year.
  • The Feminist Majority Foundation – For their internship program, the Feminist Majority Foundation seeks highly motivated undergraduate students with an interest in the public policy and political science, particularly in areas concerning gender, human rights and development. Interns must demonstrate a strong academic record and preferably have a background in the feminist movement and/or feminist issues.
  • Choice USAInternships (paid and unpaid) are available working with this large, youth-focused pro-choice organization.
  • The WISH (Women In the Senate and House) ListAmerica’s largest fundraising group for pro-choice Republican women.
  • Advocates for Youth – Champions efforts to help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates believes it can best serve the field by boldly advocating for a more positive and realistic approach to adolescent sexual health. Offers several paid and unpaid internships in their offices in Washington, D.C.
